I sample 12,000 London citizens. 6,000 of them are Chinese. Thus, half the people in London are Chinese.

It's not likely, but it's very much possible, and you're unlikely to get an accurate sample of a 100+ million userbase with a 12k sample. In my example, London only has 8 million people, while there are more than 12 times that number who own a current gen console.
