The problem is that most uninformed buyers make impulse buys, and whatever is that catches their attention the most is what they will end up buying. So, there's a very high % of crappy games on display and very few of the great games actually are on display. It's in fact hurting devs who put some effort a lot. Nintendo should impose some restrictions or else it could turn into an Atari situation.

I'm very sad for those devs who do the best they can, only to find out that a rushed and buggy PS2 port is outselling their game by a big margin. I blame retailers for being uneducated in the gaming business. They just stock whatever they think will sell well, but they overstock so much terrible shovelware that they have to cut the prices really soon and people will just grab those turds because they are cheaper.

I think of uninformed buyers as lottery player, because they get games randomly and they will be very lucky to grab a gem when the majority of games are crap.
