The OP is right on. The X360 broke $300 a while ago, and it didn't do it that much good. Expect the PS3 to get up to X360 levels or slightly better (obviously it will be a lot higher for the first couple weeks) but the Wii will easily continue to crush both of them due to having already captured the worlds interest while the PS3 and X360 are fighting to gain mainstream recognition.
This isn't bad for the console in any way, but there is no magical savior for finally hitting $300. We can throw price stats all over the place, but they really don't mean all that much. I mean, the PS2 sold 100% of its consoles at or below $300. How come both Wii and X360 haven't broken 138m yet?
Essentially, Sony was too little too late the minute they launched the thing at $600 and told us we needed two jobs to afford the thing.
