I was trying to cause confusion. I failed.
Actually, Nintendo stopped doing it to fund the Nintendo Fusion Tour which was a bunch of "popular" bands going on tour and nintendo had set up game demos from E3 in the lobbys of said concerts and people played them. They ditched the fusion tour in 2006.
