VC flooded with yesteryear's shovelware? Do you even know what the term shovelware means? Last time I checked, shovelware applies to games in which the developers don't even care about the quality of the game & they just make that game to get some quick money. Not all bad games are shovelware.

Lastly, do you mean the TG-16's library as in just the library of TG-16/PC Engine games that're originally released outside of Japan or do you mean both the TG-16's & the PC Engine's JPN only library?

 

I understand that a good chunk of Wii owners enjoy WiiWare's choice of casual games more than the VCs library of old school games which probably don't appeal to them... my point was to show that WiiWare is geared more towards the Wii's primary audience than the VC is, because gamers who grew up with those games either have them already and don't wish to purchase them again, or they primarily game on other systems, so the VC's audience is much more limited than WiiWare's aside from the obligatory Mario and Sonic titles.

Don't take what I said personally about the TG-16... I was merely using it as an example because aside from the NES, it has the second largest library on the VC, which is for a system that didn't have much success here in the states and as such, didn't exactly have the biggest game library to begin with is pretty surprising (I know it had much more success in Japan, which is why we seem to get a good deal of import games for it as well.)  It's got its fair share of classic gems to be sure, and Ys Book I & II is a must-download for any fan of classic games... but the ratio of top-tier titles on the system vs. games that were mediocre at best and horrible at worst is pretty low... same with just about every other system on the VC with the exception of the N64's library.

As for "shovelware"... your comment that I highlighted basically describes 50% or more of the games released on the 8 and 16-bit consoles back in the day, especially the NES.  Back then, developers would slap a license on just about anything and call it a day... LJN ring a bell?!?  If that wasn't true, then the Angry Video Game Nerd wouldn't have an endless supply of classic games to mock mercilessly every week or so!
