I don't think he understands how difficult it is to make a 2D level. Sure, anyone can whip something together, but to actually make it good? a lot of play testing goes into every level released. Also, he must have no experience with random level generators, because sure, they may work, but the levels always suck compared to real human made levels. As he pointed out, the challenge is in making so many levels. He is talking 1000's to actually make the game interesting. Sure, a lot of them would be variants of the original level, but that is still a lot of levels to work on.
