FF12 opening week Japan: 1.82 million

SO3 LTD NA+JP (No EU Data): 1.29 million

FF12 LTD NA+JP: 4.26 million

FF12 sold more in its opening week in Japan than SO3 in its entire lifetime in Japan and America combined. By quite a comfortable amount.

Also relevant:

FF12 LTD: 5.1 million

FF12 opening week NA+JP: 2.39 million

Mass Effect LTD: 2.06 million

Mass Effect opening week WW: 394k

So, especially seeing as FF13 is multiplat, I think FF13's opening week beating Mass Effect 2's lifetime is pretty reasonable. Just to emphasise, FF12 sold more in its opening week in NA+JP than Mass Effect did in its entire lifetime worldwide. And don't say ME isn't done selling, it sold 17k in its Japan opening, and 1,510 in the West in the week before its Japan release.
