Nintendos E3 press conference,an improvement from last year´s?Or

Considering how profusely they all apologized for how terrible last year's show was, they'd damn well better have a good show this year:

Iwata: "If there is any perception that Nintendo is ignoring the core gamers, it's a misunderstanding and we really want to get rid of that misunderstanding by any means. We are sorry about [the E3] media briefings, specifically for those who were expecting to see Nintendo show something about 'Super Mario' or 'Legend of Zelda.'"

Dunaway: ""I would say the message is we were disappointed with our performance at E3..."



Also, these games are pretty much a given:

- Pikmin 3, as 1 and 2 are out, or will be soon.

- Factor 5's Wii games, as they just said they'll be out this year, and this would be the best place to reveal them. I wouldn't be surprised if they had BOTH a Star Fox and Kid Icarus game to show, though one of their games will likely be a new franchise

- New core games using Motion+. This one's a given, as they want to really push the device to core gamers. Red Steel 2 is great, but one big game like that and some sports games aren't enough. I wouldn't be surprised to see a new Star Wars game. (Please? )



Also, I have no evidence to back this up, but Nintendo has, I'm sure, heard the rumors about their competition releasing better motion-sensing devices than the Wiimote. Such announcements wouldn't knock the Wii off the top slot in sales, but it would take away their biggest competitive advantage. Expect something to counter that, especially since Microsoft has a conference the day before and Nintendo would have time to revise their conference.

Also, it must be taken into account that Wii sales, while dominating, have been down YoY for the past couple of weeks, even losing to PS3 in Japan for a couple of months. Even from a purely business standpoint, they know that they NEED some ways of boosting sales.


All in all, I seriously doubt there will be another disaster like last year.
