I don't think, unless the PS3 starts to sell at DS-level, the PS3 will ever catch up to the Wii in Japan.

And it's not all about JRPGs in Japan, as shown by the fact that both Resident Evil 5 and Yakuza 3 outsold every single console JRPG this gen, on opening week in Japan. It's just that the 360 doesn't have many (quality) titles that appeal to a Japanese audience. GTA is quite popular in Japan, but like Resident Evil it's associated with Sony. It is, of course, partly because Sony is Japanese, but it's partly because the only Japan-centric exclusives on the 360 are second rate Square Enix JRPGs and Tales of Vesperia.
