Think of it in percentages.
.17 is ~2% of 8.25. Not much of an adjustment at all. Of course, this isn't 100% correct, as that 170k adjustment may only affect the last 1m sales, in which case it is ~17% adjustment which is fairly big.
Also, the weekly sales tend to fall within 20% of "real life", and as time goes on they get closer to within 5% so adjustments must be made.
as a FYI, some retailers report information weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or possibly slower. There are also other sources such as fiscal results, NPD, chart track, and other public sources.
