@JPL: As i said, i'm not saying you don't have the right to your opinion, just that i find your basis a bit odd.
Well, i don't know about the quote myself, but if it's about him being sceptical about the DKC developement, i can't see a problem with that.
For the controller part, it's pretty much the same as it was with NES pad and N64 controller, which both had designs that were taken as a standard by industry and gamers. Natural evolution and of course pretty foolish to think everyone would be happy with it. It looks like Wiis controls are adopted just like NES pad and the analog stick, so i can't really say Miyamoto being wrong in that one, especially when Nintendo has always focused on the interface.
