There are only two demographics the DSi ignores: graphics whores and Guitar Hero fans.

Ignoring the latter of these is a problem, and while I'm not actually a GH:OT fan myself, it is related to the reason I plan on sticking with my original DS: compared to its predecessors, the DSi is both bloated and crippled at the same time. That's no mean feat, I suppose, but not one that should be encouraged.

Ignoring the former, though, is scarcely more than putting a toxic group of "gamers" back where they belong: back at the margins, where they can no longer hurt the industry the way they've been doing in their dominant position over the last few years.

Doesn't it say something about just how desperate Sony is that they've started in on the ZOMGKIDDY and ZOMGNOTNEXTGEN trolling? For people who say their systems aren't failing, I point to these ludicrous and invalid marketing techniques as proof that they are: there is no way Sony can possibly think these lies will sell Sony systems, but they've run out of other options.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
