That's a false dichotomy. And spell check is not built into every browser, nor do the ones with spell check work in every box you can type in (for one, spell check in firefox currently only works in the quick reply window, not in the thread title box or the rich text box; for another, Opera doesn't seem to have a spell check at all, or at least not one I can easily find). Furthermore, not every typo is wrong spelling. I have this habit of typing "not" when I mean to type "no" (just did it right there and had to correct it) or "now", which often completely changes the meaning of what I am typing. So no, browsers do not provide the easy fix you are thinking of. You don't have to do it, but stop insulting my intelligence by acting as though it should be easy for me to fix the problem on my end. wrong, You can spell check any text field by right-clicking and then clicking "check spelling". In fact, I just did it right now. As for using Opera, I can't help you.
And as I said, spell checking would fix the majority of mistakes. Not all of them, but most the ones you see. Also, I'm not insulting your intelligence. I just think most people aren't aware of the tools available, and were never taught that proper spelling and grammar are important. I learned to type on a typewriter, so proper spelling the first time around was extremely important, and the best we got was crappy white-out that hardly worked at all.
