And if you don't like abuse, just allow temporary editing until the first reply, or after the first few if someone points out a typo. That way, because mistakes do happen, we can correct anything we didn't catch the first time, but after the first reply or so, it's stuck. Not mod-controlled stuck. Stuck period. I know it doesn't seem unreasonable to just expect us to carefully go through a title before posting, but it is unreasonable. Some users are doing this on their coffee breaks. They don't have time to just carefully proofread thread titles. This isn't journalism. This is a message board. It's meant to be user friendly. If this was Wikipedia, with their strict posting standards, I would expect to be told to double check, because that is the nature of that site. That isn't so here. You don't have to implement this, but don't tell us it's strictly our fault if we make honest mistakes. That's like telling a car buyer to just roll the windows down if they want air conditioning. They're going to have to drive well, but that is meant to make driving well more comfortable. Just as here, we're willing to spellcheck and correct our posts. I just want the option to correct more of what we do. |
well, it isn't VGChartz fault someone typed the wrong thing, so it must be the users fault.
Honestly, spell check is built into browsers now, so it shouldn't take more than 1 second to do a quick spell check which would fix the vast majority of the problems.
Personally, I'm indifferent about the ability to edit titles. But if I had to decide, it would go on the very bottom of the queue of things to be done.
