I think those numbers are a testament to how well both are doing. Sony seems to be posting very steady numbers while Microsoft has improved a lot. I think they should both be proud of these figures. Sony moreso because of the economic situation the world is in and the PS3 price point.

Well that's because Japan is all about the games. SW moves hardware in Japan unlike some other regions. Microsofts sales didn't increase until they released a barrage of software that catered to the Japanese. Now that it has subsided they are on the downfall. Also Nintendo hasn't had any big releases that cater to the Japanese either so they are on a slide as well. I think it is possible for the Wii, PS3 and 360 to all post under 20K or even 15K a week simultaneously.
