MAC addresses are supposed to be unique (the hardware manufacturers buy them and assign one to each piece of hardware they produce)

However, some user devices allow you to set the MAC address (generally for debugging purposes). You can change the MAC address of your PC/Laptop too (or at least spoof it), but you need to have the right tools. The Wii doesn't allow you to set the MAC address, so your only option is to get an adapter for either wired LAN, or a wireless adapter for your laptop/PC.

The problem with assigning both the Wii/X360 and laptop to the same MAC is that it will confuse the router if you try to put both on at the same time and then you don't really know what will happen.

If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy
