Third-parties don't like censorship. Sony was wise enough to abandon enforced quality standards (such as Nintendo's cieling on how many games a year you could publish) and I don't think that genie's going back in the bottle anytime soon. I really don't think it should go back, either.
As to the topic, Grampy said most of what I want to. The only thing I'll add is that Wii Sports, the most popular game with the masses in decades, has a Metacritic score of 76...
