Oh my... Yahoo is so funny sometimes.

There are too many crappy games on the Wii.

So says the global boss of 2K Games, Christoph Hartmann, and at least in the opinion of video game critics, he's on to something. Using figures from review aggregation site Metacritic.com, almost half of Wii games released since the console launched in 2006 have scored below 65%, compared with about a third of Xbox 360 and PS3 titles. And 65% is a pretty crappy aggregate score, considering that many game review sites rarely score below 50%.

Raise the bar to 85%, and the difference is even more pronounced: 360 owners can play twice as many games rated above 85% as Wii owners, while the PS3 nearly triples Nintendo's numbers.

ya, cause it has tons and TONS of shovelware which NEEDS to stop IMO.

And this is important because we're not allowed to enjoy games that average 84% or lower on Metacritic. =P

The Wii’s success is entirely because of subliminal messages that were placed in everyone’s subconscious in the movie The Wizard:

I understand the guy is calling out developers for not making more of an effort on the Wii, but reviews ARE NOT proof of effort.



A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

ya, especially how in this day in age many of the reviews are biased. tons of sites gave GTA4 10/10s, making it one of the most overrated games in history, but that counts just cause of the review? not to mention, shooters typically get great reviews, when many other genres dont, like platformers, text-based games, adventures, RPGs, etc. you can't call proof on reviews, since reviews are mostly biasd opinions

How seriously are we supposed to take scores when the highest selling games last year; Mario Karts Wii (14.16M) and Wii Fit (14.75M), a true landmark game, are out scored by such wonderful immortal HD classics as: Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds ( 690K), Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis (720K), DiRT: Colin McRae Off-Road  (880K). Apparently they weren't able to generate sales to go with those great scores.

Even Xbox Live has provided more worthy games like PixelJunk Monsters, Pac-Man Championship Edition (probably won on originality). Oh, and don't let us forget  Encore Poker Smash, the game that inspired IGN to award a perfect 100.  Interestingly that was a full 30 points more than Planet Xbox 360, Official Xbox Magazine UK, Totally360 and 40 points more than Xbox World 360 Magazine UK.

Now obviously opinions are opinions, and I will undoubtedly be flamed by people whose lives were forever changed by Poker Smash. But I am willing to bet the farm that Wii Fit will be remembered as a watershed event in the history of video gaming long after Poker Smash is totally forgotten.

Carnival games was awesome, it's far more entertaining than the majority of the Wiis first party offerings.
