People believe the 10 year plan because Sony has done it in previous generations. Just because Sony has a 10 year plan doesn't mean the Wii and 360 can't last 10 years. I do think that Sony will release some substantial revisions to the hardware of the PS3 during its lifecycle, but 10 years is still their stated direction.
