One thing overlooked... Fallout 3

I think the game of the year is going to be Fallout 3. That releases 1 week after Fable 2. It will steal sales from the RPG fans.

One of the best comments in this thread in my opinion.

Fallout 3 and Fable 2 are unlikely to be bought within 1 week of each if you are in a full time job.  But then 2-3 weeks after Fable2 GeoW2 is released.

Fallout3 *could* outsell Fable2 on the 360 alone and it *will* outsell Fable2 if you combine 360 and PS3 sales, the review scores are going to be a big factor here due to the fact rpg's tend to appeal to the hardcore market. It makes the decision of sending Fable2 to review without a massive feature (online coop) all the more rediculous.

As long as both Fable2 and Fallout3 get solid review scores i will be buying them both for sure, just not necessarily in the same year...i might leave the weaker one for the January drought.

As for my predictions on the sales figures / other comments:

- Anyone thinking Res2 will outsell GeoW2 is an idiot, greater install base + greater sales of intial title = win

- If all of these sell over 2 million then it is a great achievement for all games, "success" is relative to the cost of the game, the more it cost the more sales it needs.

In 2008 sales:

- Fable2 (1.5m) > LBP (who knows?!)

- GeoW2 (4.5m) > Res2 (2.5m)

In Lifetime Sales

- LBP (5m?) > Fable2 (3m)

- GeoW2 (7m) > Res2 (4m)

I think all of these games are looking better than Fallout 3. To me, it just seems very bland and pointless and not varied at all. Just the idea of an RPG with guns puts me off. I could be wrong, but I'm going to say Gears 2 will sell the most of these five games, followed by Fallout 3 only because it is multiplat, followed by R2, then LBP, then Fable II.

Also, there's the fact that Fallout 3 on PS3 commits the deadly sin of having no trophies. This will probably cause on-the-fence people to not buy it, or at least wait until trophies are introduced.

It's so stupid of Bethesda, though. Why put so much effort into a game, and not spend a couple of hours that could potentially get you another million sales? It's like how DLC for Oblivion was never made available on PSN- I guess Bethesda just prefers Microsoft.

Sony needs money to buy these people back.
