ok, if you look at weekly NA sales, it is ~500k/week.
In the US alone, there is a population of ~300m
So ignore, Mexico and Canada (the two largest purchasers after US) and you're looking at 0.15% of the US population buys 1 console/handheld every week. That is rather small. Which the average income in America is more than sufficient for most people to buy a console/handheld.
Now, throw in Canada and Mexico population and you get ~450m, which then says that 0.11% of the NA population buys a console each week.
Do you really only know 1 in 1000 people that own a console?
