My opinions aren't based on "nothing" as you say. They are based on watching this industry and its trends very closely since the early eighties. Also, I have degrees in English literature, psychology, and religion plus an inherited natural ability to look deep into the minds and mindsets of people. My father was a both a leading prosecuting and criminal defense attorney in his lifetime. My opinions might seem like trolling or hocus pocus to some people; however, I swear that I am what Anton Lavey would call a great "cold reader" into trends and human behavior.

Oh, indeed; they're not based on "nothing." They're based on an irrational bias driven by the fact that the console doesn't follow the graphics-are-everything trend of the last few generations and forces its developers to deviate from that path (something sorely needed for the last ten years).

By the way, I note that you have degrees in English literature, psychology, and religion. But you do not have degrees in, say, marketing, computer science, game theory, statistics, or anything else relevant to this field (admittedly, psychology comes fairly close). Your father's achievements, while impressive in their own context, are also pretty much irrelevant to this debate. The only relevant credential you've presented is your promise that you're a great "cold reader," and frankly your recent track record speaks strongly against you. Have you been right on anything in this field since the Wii launched?

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.
