Were did you get this from? NPD gets retail reports they dont estimate anything

I see the ignorance is strong with you. NPD doesn't count every system out the door. They don't have any data from Walmart or ToysRus, so they have to estimate something.
Walmart is out right the biggest electronics seller, and ToysRus does extremely well on the Nintendo front.
I'm not claiming NPD sucks, but at least I know that they can make mistakes.

Also assuming they estimate wont get you anywhere, there is a reason why console makers use NPD and not other sources.

I don't have to assume, just look into how NPD actually works. They make estimates on all sorts of household electronics, and various other consumer goods, just like all the other tracking firms around the world do. Just look at famitsu/media create for examples of how trackers estimate. Both services track video game sales, yet they differ all the time. This week is a prime example of the differences just in software alone.
