I remember when Capcom gave you ungrateful Nintendo fans the exclusive Resident Evil 4? You didn't buy it. You didn't buy Viewtiful Joe. You didn't buy PN03. You didn't buy Killer 7.

Remember when they gave you ungrateful Nintendo fans your own version of Dead Rising? Pushed that poor weak Nintendo Wii to the limit. Who bought it? Not one single one of you!

Remember the 3DS? Remember when Capcom gave you guys the single best looking 3DS game on the console, Resident Evil Revelations? Gave you online co-op AND dual analog support? The only two people that bought it were me and Rol. That's it. I believe Vgchartz still has the official sales listed at 2. I haven't checked in a while.

So Capcom gave you their best. Their best wasn't good enough. Now you get leftover shit. And Monster Hunter.

Nope, Capcom made their worse decision by going with MH to PS4/PC/X1, that almost doomed the franchise.

Releasing Monster Hunter on PS4/Xbone/PC was a great decision.

Discontinuing the franchise's long-running portable line rather than making one for Switch though would be a bad decision.

It's always better to have more money than less.

Are we talking the whole game or the title screen?

It is capcom, so only title screen on a 1Gb or less card, the rest you download.

Company assets are limited, but I remember hearing there was a MH that would launch on Switch short after MHW. Didn't one launch?

They already have a team who've long handled the portable line, the guys who made the game you mention, MH Generations Ultimate, which was a HD port of the last 3DS entry. Moving them onto a Switch entry would be a logical and lucrative next step.

A new game would need like 3 years to be made so perhaps it gets announced this year.

I certainly hope so. That way everyone wins; World is a hit, World 2 is obviously already being made for PS5, and a continuation of the portable line would complete the picture.

The question is if they are going to try and port MHW2 to Switch or the "portable" to PS5 and XSX

I very much doubt we'd see a MHW or MHW2 port to Switch.

More likely a portable game made for Switch, which you can just release for other consoles later as a "Deluxe/4K" version.

Are you actually comparing Nintendo and Capcom on their Switch offerings? Nintendo has some blunders (MK8D not being one of them, the main culprit for me is DKTF), but they actually carry a 50m+ system on their own via amazing NEW games, as well as ports and remasters. Meanwhile, Capcom has done NOTHING on Switch, and use it only as a means to fund Xbox / PC / PS games. What happens when that well dries up, though, eh?

What obligation does Capcom have to support Switch? And why that should excuse Nintendo doing practices condemned when others do?

Oh there's no obligation whatsoever. Just money (lots of it) being left on the table.

I think it would be cool to see the gameplay of MHW be played on Switch. I don’t see how the action-oriented gameplay of MHW couldn’t be done on Switch. Zelda BoTW showed that game physics and flexible gameplay of current gen can be done on Switch without the 4K graphics.

No sorry, this is an outright lie. RE2 and RE3 are some of the best looking games that were released in this generation. Both character models and environment details are absolutely insane. This is not coming only from me, this is also coming from Digital Foundry. Porting them would butcher the experience, the same way it did with The Witcher 3 and Doom 2016. Let's face it, just because those games are "good enough" on the Switch they are nowhere near good when stacked up against other versions.

Watching the Digital Foundry video right now just to make sure I remember correctly. Even the original XBO is running RE2 at 1080p. Throughout the generation, the base XBO has been having a tough time running lots of games without downgrading to 900p and 30fps.

If the base Xbox One can run the experience at 1080p and up to 60fps (though it frequently misses that mark), it can't be pushing the console as hard as you say.

Capcom has been pushing beautiful looking but surprisingly not complex graphics since Mercenaries 3D on the 3DS. I'm no expert but I think the Switch can handle it with only FPS and Resolution cuts. 30fps at 720p-900p sounds about right.

*Edit* while I was posting, the PC version analysis started playing and they said pretty much any PC can run it without problems.

That's because the game is a) well optimized and B) the base Xbox is several times more powerful than a Switch. Look, if you want a gimped version of these masterpieces, it's fine by me, I couldn't care less, but let's not beat around the bushes, the experience will be severely limited and objectively inferior even at a glance.

As somebody who owns a gaming PC, PS4 and Switch I feel I get the best from all worlds. I know that financial reasons might play a part, they did so for me as well, 6-7 years ago when I was just gearing up with my job, but man I feel that people are missing out by sticking to one platform. I would recomend as I mentioned before, just wait out the eventual stronger PC that everyone gets at one point and the game for <5$ on steam/gog. Its not like there are not plenty of games on the Switch to play that are natively made for it.
