Forums - Sales Discussion - February 2016 NPD Thread! Hardware estimates up!

Cyber Sleuth at 64k!

Hoping the next Story game(I know about next 0rder) is catered to the same fans again and the story is on par or better than CS. More Mirei, too.

Vita LTD in 2015 CESA Games White Paper were an estimate by CESA, NOT shipment data by Sony.

So it's as official as VGC numbers, at least.

Slightly more than I expected from Vita, but helps that my expectations are always through the floor.

Was Feb 2015 the month of > 30k Vita and < 30k PSTV?

Yeeees = ) And 64.000 "only the retail ps4 version". its more overall = )

64k only retail on PS4 for Digimon Cyber Sleuth is great imo!!!
And finally PS Vita numbers! :o 19.5k isn't a bad result for PS Vita imo.

i said is a rumor, indeed.

But you can't compare CESA to Chartz. li mean, VGChartz has less than 1% of track worldwide. Those are tecnically guess, not estimate...

I like all work from Machinima and ioi, but almost all source are better than VGChartz. It's like say "NPD numbers are official as VGC numbers".

You can believe in VGChartz or in CESA, but if you need to chose, do you really think VGChartz is more accurate?

Anyway, as for France, GFK has Vita at 61,000 if i remember correctly in France in 2015, VGC has Vita at 108,000. So, this is pretty much a source Vita is way overtracked at least in France, and i think is legit suspect is well overtracked even in the rest of Europe.

GFK is just like NPD a massive source for the Europe as it track 90/95% of market.

However, 9.76m shipments by cesa vs 10.22m sales by vgc? Which estimate do you feel that is more close?

Also vgc had psv at 9.36m by that time, but became 10.22 due to -as proved to be- a misguided adjustement up of 1.4m (of which the 1.1m went to europe) in the end of march 2015, which a subsequent of a report of strong sales in a medium european market, which caused a misapprehension, along with pressure by a specific member and its baseless claimings which convinced ioi, it's a long story... Even though, Psv has been adjusted down in Europe -I don't remember how much-, because we had ended up with Europe being its best market, yeah better than Japan, which for obvious reasons ( no game support, no handheld console dominance advantage contrary to Japan) is not very probable, and ioi realized that, eventually. Plus that suddenly psv was selling x2 compared to last year, while there was no price drop or a major game release. Sales are still being tracked according to the new baseline after the adjustment, ergo they are inflated.

In addition lets not forget the 82.3m psp sales figure in the the interview amongst an ign journalist and a sony executive, which for some is a made up number but the article implies something else ( he was obviously asked for numbers, and why the journalist wouldn't use the last official figure but would fabricate a number instead? ) This number, compared to the 92.4m psp+psv (76.3m last known number of psp and 1.8m for psv before being combined with psp + 14.4m psp+psv shipments by mar ch 2015/ 440k psp+psv Jan+Marchm'15 from sony's data) substantiates cesa report. All things add up, why still having a denying and suspicious stance instead of a light reservation, when there are so many clues?

Lastly, you distinguish the difference between a Japanese video game market promotion organization who was established in 1996, who by the way, organizes the annual tokyo game show & Japanese game awards and a tracking sales website created by a video games enthusiast back in 2006?

No, I don't really believe either, since they're both estimates :P

Lol.  No offence, but I'm not getting into this with you again :P

But like i said, there are estimate and estimate. NPD numbers too are estimate, which one are more legit?

Anyway, i use CESA numbers, because is most likely the most accurate public source we have for PSV shipments, But i can understand if you don't use it.

Kinect is indeed over rated. But to say it only had a minor impact on sales is absolutely false.

Why do you think Microsoft were so adament at bundling Kinect 2 from day 1. Because they were sure it would see the same sort of reaction that the original got. But the market had moved on.

Microsoft believed their own PR, that's why. They were preparing for the eighth generation as if they had seen PS2-like dominance during the seventh generation. Kinect wasn't the only thing they were delusional about.

they may have been dillusional but they have still sold 20M in just over 2 years now. Could be a lot worse.

Better...

Since you don't perceive the difference  of cesa with vgc, given that you keep equating them, (cesa-> big Japanese video game promoting organization, established in 1996,  holds the annual tokyo game show and Japanese game awards, has relations with all major japanese video game corporations, sony, nintendo, e.t.c, which implies that they have insiders vs vgc sales tracking/extrapolations, website, created by a video game (market) enthusiast, in 2006.)

Plus that afterall, (unless, I mistook your comments) you still refuse to accept the proofs/ clues that match, which is different from just disagreeing (well continuous doubting in the beginning, especially when you fail to understand/not being in the mood to understand or something is vague,  and needing explanation, is ok, but after one point when there is compelling evidence/ facts, that add up, accompanied by strong reasoning with ammunition, and insisting on denying what they indicate, it's  weird , at least)

I thought, that you had realized that there is  some right  in all this.

Anyway, keep in mind, if there was no huge adjustment up, vgc  sales would be under cesa shipments estimate by 400k...  What's sad, is that previous number of vgc was maybe right but turned wrong with the adjustement up...

Guys here put a lot of effort, it's not an easy task, I appreciate and admire them for it, because I wouldn't be able to do that or even have some success with it. There are fairly many successes/ paradimgs of perfect or close to the real numbers tracking but there are also errors, small or moderate but  sometimes  they are (pretty) big, mostly regarding hardware...
