What are you talking about? Its a fantastic game. What beta did you play in? (There have been 3). I was in the first and last betas and the change in quality was dramatic. The gameplay is excellent (if you go into this thinking its MW2 you'll get torn up, it needs more brains than MW2) the graphics are great (not UC2 but who is!?) and had no lag whatsoever when I played.

The people who think MAG is going to suck just don't have a clue and probably were never even in the beta.

If you see the great praise Mass Effect 2 is getting right now, you'd pretty much assume that ME2 would clearly be the better quality game with more sales. I think that's a no brainer.

However I do not mean that MAG is crap or something. From what I've been hearing, it's very solid and for a game that supports 256 players with no lag with pretty solid graphics, that's a big achievement on its own.

So basically both games are on different levels of gaming in which both games have their merits and frustrations (refering to MAG) which I think will be enjoyed by the people who buy the games and both games will be loved.

Mass Effect is a game which everyone can expect to be quality. MAG is a new IP. The concept of MAG is iffy as well. Word of mouth will sell that game much like Batman Arkham Asylum did.

I have heard on a message board from one person in the beta that MAG is very bad though. So will word of mouth help or hurt?

Cool sources.

OT: One's a new IP and online only. The other's a follow up to an already successful franchise.

MAG plays more like a PC FPS TBH, is a deeper game that caters to a more mature audience.

Plays slower and more strategic, not everyone likes MAG, but it fully succeeds at being the type of game it aims to be. Its audience is not as big as say a pop arcade FPS like MW2, but I think it will do pretty well.

ME1 was awesome, ME2 looks top be more awesome... ME2 will probably outsell MAG by quite a bit. Just because of budget and name and its a Bioware game.... and it promises to be pretty kick ass as well.

Amen to that, as a counter strike junkie and former pro gamer I have to agree with that. That's the reason, why MAG will be the only console FPS I'll be playing in the future.

Also people should not forget that MAG is PS3 exclusive title, while Mass Effect 2 is comming out on Xbox 360, but also PC. And since BioWare are developers with very strong and faithful PC audience, the game will sell considerable amount on PC. While probably less than half of what Xbox will make.

MY HYPE LIST: 1) Gran Turismo 5; 2) Civilization V; 3) Starcraft II; 4) The Last Guardian; 5) Metal Gear Solid: Rising

A sequel to one of the best RPGs of the generation is going to sell more than an online-only new IP? I never would have guessed.

LOL!!! yeh sounds like a very reliable source indeed.

ME2 looks like a real quality game and will do very well. MAG looks ok, and will do ok i sales, I'd say ~2mil.

Hardware sales will reflect this, Xbox360 will get a good boost, but PS3 should increase as well for that week.

Considering the facts that Mass effect 2 is the first exclusive to release on the xbox 360 since Forza 3, PS3 has 4 or 5 great exclusives releasing in the next 8 weeks and MAGS a new IP, I think it very understandable as to why theres a differance between the two games

I dont see much of a boost for either, not at this time of the year.

I'm not sure how this works in other parts of the world, but in my home country (Sweden) I know a lot of people are short of cash at the end of January, so good gamereleases combined with the first salary after Christmas and New Years should ensure hw will go up for that week.
