NPD is from jan 2009 A YEAR OLD
130,000 in jan 2009 VC sales picked up since april nothing wrong

No, the Jan 2009 leak had VC at 74k.   The 130k is from November (not last NPD, sorry).

According to VGC almost half of the games current American sales came in the last 7 weeks. November data obviously doesn't isn't of much use here. Just wait for Sega to give their quarterly report.

The game's out of stock and pretty much every electronics and toy retailer (Wal-mart, Best Buy, TRU, etc), and has been for months.  Gamestop's the only major nationwide who seems to even carry it, and then even it varies store to store and is unavailable online.

What happens if it's not mentioned in the quarterly report?  Just like it's never been highlighted in any of Sega's IR reports after the Q1 2008 interim results (where Sega said domestic sales were "steady")?

Please, the game was put on clearance in November and December at Wal-Mart. I know, because I bought several copies for gifts. I know Brett said that the large increase was due to those clearance sales at Wal-Mart and other retailers.

It's been out stock online for months.  I never checked in-store until early December though, at which point it was gone in pretty much every major metropolitan area already.  Last 7 weeks indeed...

jarrod has ties to pretty much every major metropolitan area confirmed!

Yes, through the magic of "in store locator"!

So when the PS3 exclusive RPG out sells the 360 one VGC is overtracking it? or it doesn't count as a jrpg?

Black Women Are The Most Beautiful Women On The Planet.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

^- it was very successful for what its worth, when it first released on ps3 it was an underdog title all-round, not that titles goes to White Knight as VC becomes mainstream!

I bought it only 3 days ago, so i can say i helped it pass Lost Odyssey. Ironically i didn't start to play it yet because right now i'm playing Lost Odyssey  .

Congrats to Sega and Valkyria, a game I loved... until the middle of the last mission, when my PS3 decided to YLOD. Needs to start all over again... soon.

What exactly are you implying here?

jarrod brought up NPD data and it shows there's a huge discrepancy with VGC's numbers. NPD tends to be closer to reality, so we assume VGC is overtracking it. It has nothing to do with one game being a "PS3 exclusive" and the other a "360 exclusive."

Like Soriku said, VGC seems to have been overtracking all JRPG's this gen. I don't see what's wrong with questioning these numbers.

Hell, if anyone is up for it, I'll bet avatar/sig control that VGC will adjust these sales downwards within the year. If people are so confident these numbers, please, do accept.

Or sales don't matter anymore. Or Sony is not profitable. Or there are too many PS3 good news on this website.

Your pick.

Click compare games, and compare total sales.

For some reason, the VC number hasn't been updated on that scale you showed.
