What are we classing as the minimum number of reviews needed?, because SMG is still 2nd when you go down to 5 reviews (though not to 1 because loads of games have 100% with 1 review)

I think it is because it needs 20 reviews to get into the gamerankings main list, and also because games tend to drop in score as more reviews come in -- although i think it'll have less to do with getting hits on their website and more to do with magazines giving 9s due to only have integer increments

I know this is going to be very negative but....

It will be lucky to stay on the top 10 on gamerankings. Bioshock had 20 when it went onto the list, and was over SMG's numbers (but barely).

It'll probably end up just outside of the top-10, maybe 12 or 13.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

I don't know if we can expect the same trends for Mario's reviews as we have seen them for Halo 3 and Bioshock, mainly because it covers another genre. While FPS are the most popular games right now, platformers have suffered a drought of awesome games for quite a while. Therefore, I don't think we will see too many sites tearing the scores down.

On another note, I think it is interesting that after gamerankings, the best 3D installments of the three main Nintendo hardcore single-player series have been released on three different platforms: Zelda OoT on the N64, Metroid Prime on the Cube and Galaxy on the Wii.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

I would definately agree with this... just the fact that it is a platformer, a genre that has been starved for long will in fact boost the scores a lot.

Not that the rankings realy matters in the end, the only interesting thing about them imo is to compare games within the same genre. There is just no way you can compare a score between genres since people have preferences on genres in the first place.

@All the negative people that claim to be realistic;

Metroid Prime has 92 reviews and it is No. 4 of all time.

Resident Evil 4 for GC has 105 reviews and it's No. 6 of all time

Pretty sure SMG can have over a 100 reviews and still stay in the top 10.

I love SMG!!!

@ArtofAngels: The original post was about it staying as #2 all-time.

I have no doubt that this game will remain in the top ten. It's possible that it remains #2, and it will certainly be considered very high on my personal favorites list.
