Looks like The Last Story will be at about 25k - 30k on its second week.

I dont know, the first week already showed how messed up the points system of COMG is.

How exactly did it show that? VC3 and TLS were within 1 point of each other, but TLS ended up selling 10k more, so numbers weren't that bad. If last week meant anything then TLS might reach 35k second week, which would be good for an RPG on its second week, plus it's a new IP.

Well at least TLS will be Mistwalkers best selling IP in Japan. Now i estimate 200k plus LT sales in Japan for this game which is not bad. It's sad though , that mediocre games like WKC tend to sell more but Quality games like TLS and Xenoblade don't get the sales it deserves in Japan.

What can we say? Wrong platform.

With proper marketing and FF creator behind it I'm pretty sure it would be 300-400k seller on PS3.

At the moment it's treading slightly above Blue Dragon:

    http://gamrreview.vgchartz.com/sales/2931/blue-dragon/

The only original IP JRPG on PS3 that's done appreciably better on PS3 is WKC.  Literally everything else has been on par (Resonance of Fate) or appreciably worse (Nier, Valkyria Chronicles, Demon's Souls, Eternal Sonata, 3D Dot Game Heroes, Trinity Universe, etc).

I think people put too much stock into Sakaguchi's name.  I can't really see how TLS would've been a big seller on anything but probably PS2, 10 years ago...

None of those games have near the pedigree that TLS had nor the mainstream advertisement. Plus not outselling WKC is pretty sad, its not like it was a blockbuster title.

What pedigree does TLS have?  It was actually developed by Artoon.... so, uh Panzer Dragoon and NiGHTS as their biggest past associated successes?  How well have Mistwalker's previous RPGs sold again?

Nevermind that WKC, ROF, Valkyria and Demon's Souls all had pretty decent pedigrees (Dragon Quest team, Valkyrie Profile team, Sakura Taisen team and King's Field team respectively).   Hell, Level-5 is arguably a much bigger draw than Mistwalker.

All this is really an exercise in futility.  Saying TLS would've sold better on a competitor's system is a non-starter argument, chiefly because TLS wouldn't exist if it wasn't on Wii.  It's a Nintendo game, it was funded by Nintendo, it's owned by Nintendo, and going by developer commentary Nintendo also helped shape it's direction even.  It's like saying GT5 or Mingol 5 would've sold better on Wii, possibly even being million sellers; that's entirely possible given Wii has a larger and more mainstream audience, which correlates far better to both games historically... but the thing is, Mingol 5 and GT5 could only exist on PS3.  So what's the point?

Don't try and play it like that, we both know that "from the creators of Final Fantasy" was brought up at every oppurtunity and was how the game was advertised.

And WKC was from the stewards of Dragon Quest, which is a bigger series than FF ever has been.  Earth Seeker is from the creator of Monster Hunter, how well do you realistically see it selling off that?

Also, "Final Fantasy" was never mentioned in the Japanese advertising for TLS afaik.  I think the Gooch pretty much blew whatever interest there is from that angle with Blue dragon and Lost Odyssey years ago.

The 360 could sell more new SW in February than the Wii.

    I still find this amazing.

    =P

BTW those listed aren't all the new February releases. There's many missing. Only 1 missing for the Wii though, Rune Factory Oceans which is also coming out for the PS3, so I doubt it'll set the charts on fire.

360 is also getting WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2011, Black Label (Cave Co. Shooter), Students of Round (JRPG), Two Worlds II, Pia 4 (Adv. Game), Bulletstorm and Muchi/Pink Sweets (Cave Co. Shooter)

So in the end 360 will probably end up selling more new SW than the Wii.
