Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox Live VS PSN---Round 7 of the Console Wars

10 things that make the PSN better.

1) it is 100% free and has the same capabilities as the 360

2) it includes a full internet browser. I have successfully used my PS3 to watch Hulu, listen to Pandora internet radio and more. This is WITHOUT installing Linux, which gives even more freedom to use the web on your console. I've had the amazing revolutions the 360 touts (for paying customers) like Twitter and Facebook for years now.

3) The PS3 has nearly unlimited space to store things and uses any 3rd party hard drive when you need more space. I have a 1TB drive in my release PS3 currently with over a hundred movies stored on the hard drive on top of tons of games and game installs. The 360 maxes out at 1/8th that amount and even that tiny 120GB hard drive costs well over 140 bucks which is about 3 times more then a 3rd party one.

4) The PS3 includes wireless, just like every modern electronics device other then the 360, which only has a 100 dollar adapter.

5) The 360 has no support for large scale gaming. All the big 360 games have small multiplayer matches (10-24 players) as the only choice available. There are multiple PS3 games that support upwards of 60 players currently. MAG, when it is released soon, will support over 10 times more players then any 360 game.

6) Though initially not great, home is getting much better. It is significantly better then the 360s virtual world app which doesn't exist outside paper doll avatars you see on your home screen.

7) I buy things when I want them, for real money instead of Microsoft points that don't convert right to dollars and are non refundable once purchased (and they have to be purchased in blocks which very seldomly are equal to the amount you want to spend on the item you want to buy)

8) My PS3 browses media from any number of UPNP devices I have around the house. The 360 needs specific proprietary solutions to share with PCs based around god awful software like Windows Media Player. Downloading and playing movies/games is also far easier, both because the PSN interface is better and because of not having to deal with the aforementioned points crap.

9) When you start up your PS3 your interface isn't nearly as cluttered with marketing junk. As if having to pay 50 bucks a year isn't enough. I don't care about gaming with Creed, I don't even like their music, why would I care to play call of duty with them?

10) If you had a 360 from Launch you would have spent over 250 dollars at a minimum for Xbox live. I still haven't paid a penny for my release day PS3 online. Luckily virtually every good 360 game is available for free online play on the PS3 or PC, the same is not true of the best PS3 games since they tend to be pure exclusives as opposed to, at best, "console exclusives".

PS3 is free Xbox 360 costs money. My lunch was free, Cafes cost me money. Maybe if I give up Xbox Live I can buy a cup of coffee.

Did you really go there?

Im actually here laughing out loud at that.. I mean really?

A gallon of milk of milk that is about to spoil is being given away for free, drinkable but barely. Now a gallon of milk of milk that spoils in 2 weeks is being given away for the price of $0.40 cents a day.

Ill take the old spoiled milk over the new fresh one becus im cheap!

btw i dont pay for XBL becus i find its not worth it. Hell i havnt even played my Xbox in a while.

Huh? I use both services and they are fine. If there was a similar charge for PSN I would pay it and I don't make a great distinction between the two. I wouldn't say Xbox Live is vastly better if it was free and I wouldn't say that PSN was vastly worse in comparison if there was a fee. Infact my opinion of both services doesn't relate to the price they charge.

I still like the psn on the grounds that it's better than it originally was.

PS One/2/p/3slim/Vita owner. I survived the Apocalyps3/Collaps3 and all I got was this lousy signature.

Xbox One: What are you doing Dave?

I like Live better for

1. Party chat and lots of things socially, like now it can tell you what part on what game someone is playing. It find it alot easier to message people because I can just go gto their profile quick and send him a message. On PSN I need to put a damn title. That justs makes whatever I say sound stupider.

2. It's better integrated with the system, every part has something to do with the internet and seperate places for videos and games.

3. It's more organized, I can find demo and videos based on things like popularity, rating, and order. On PSN I find to difficult to find things like add-ons for my games.

4. One major thing, I find XBL more active. I've gone on Resistance and OPF:DR2 and out of the whole team only one guy has a mic and he won't talk to anyone. It irritated me on the MAG beta when nobody would say anything and one guy got on and started talking to use like he was a captain. It seems like you're still playing a one player game even if you're online.

Overall though, it just feels better intergrated with the system.

IMO its like

I boot up my PS3

Start to play my game

40 minutes in and i realize i havnt checked my inbox

Whoops im not online

where as the 360 is

I boot up my 360

The dashboard changes, and you know that your online. Its a vital part of the Xbox.

xbox live had to win. round 8 has to go to the ps3 due to blu-ray

I've been playing the online portion of Modern Warfare 2 for free with all of my buddies who have canceled their XBL subscription to jump ship to PSN. Some people can see the value in paying for online gaming. I can't.

Are you blinder than ray charles was?

No support for massive online games and then you state the ps3 is the only console with more than 25 players per game?

Tell ya what go google a little 360 exclusive called Frontlines which supported 50 players and sometimes more online.

Then you want to go as far as talking about psn being equal to livw let me tell you where psn fails.

Its a pain in the ass to connect with friends. If my friend is in the middle of a game of call of duty and i wanted to play lets say killzone.I cant cross game chat can i?I have to litteraly send a invite hope hes paying attention during his game to notice and i cant coax him into joining me with a chat no i gotta hope hes in the mood to play something else.

psn sucks i had a ps3 i know it was a project trying join my friends for gaming it was a joke.Bluray is a joke i have seen the movies 1080p over the new zune system and they look as good as bluray on my over 50" elite.Wifi sucks i always hard wire when it comes to gaming you dont take chances on your connection if your a serious gamer. The ps3 menu is a mess text text text and more text menus of text.Home is a joke everyone knows it its a poor excuse no better than a ripoff of all the moronic interbet has to offer join in to watch virtual charecters dance while 40 year old men chase fake 18 year old girls. And even there its a pain in the ass to chat you gotta preety much text everthing to be sociable.

Heres how the real experience goes for the real console system.

Boot up 360 and theres all my friends quickly invite to a party no matter what there playing. We all agree upon a game while there still playing what there playing i then click one button invite em all and we are gaming.

360's online is better.

PS3's is free (and highly functional) so therefore the better choice.
