Spread out tastes and smaller userbase explains most of what you are complaining. In Others, where there´s almost no difference in userbase, PS3 sw is above x360, multiplats and Total. I don´t know about exclusives. That means taht Most of the world, with the exception of NA, buys more sw for the Ps3 than for x360, the problem is that NA is the biggest market in the world and makes the difference worldwide.

it is the 360 that is special : despite piracy you have a lot of people buying games quite frequently

360 gamers are, most of them, real hardcore gamers (if you prefer : shooter lovers...) that play a lot of game + some people having bought the arcade model (more recent purchase) that play a bit less

PS3 gamers are, I m guessing, a lot more spread in term of gaming interest, some people are maybe just interested in the BR player AND the user base in NA is significatively smaller ... 

360 gamers don't only buy shooters. Sure FPS is the most popular genre but the 360 sells western RPGS really well for example. The 360 has diversified itself a lot since last gen.

The Ps3 is actually doing rather well. The number you want here is really the attach-rate, which is at 6.57 for the Ps3.

If you look at TheSource's stickied threads, these are the attach rates for Nintendo's machines (I don't have the data for any others).

Lifetime attach rates by shipments:

NES - 8.1 games/console

SNES - 7.7 games/console

N64 - 6.8 games/console

GC - 9.6 games/console

GBA - 4.65 games/console

DS - 5.24 games/console (still increasing)

We know that the original Xbox had a lower attach rate than the GC, so the original XB is at around 9, most likely. You could also go to this: http://www.scei.co.jp/corporate/data/bizdataps2soft_e.html and see that the Ps2 is looking at an attach rate of around 10.

Now, attach rates only grow over the course of the generation. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the Ps3 and Wii at 10ish, and the X360 at 12ish.

All in all: The Ps3 owners look to be buying equally many games as the owners of any previous machine did - only being outdone by the X360 and perhaps the Ps2/GC.

Nearly every big Sony game passes a million with ease- as we know they often have long sexy legs too. Plus your rant is only directed at NA so it should be common sense that PS3 games won't sell as well.

You guys also have to take into consideration how many people pirate games on the 360. Forget about torrents, there are hundreds upon hundreds of forums that have these games up for download through file hosting sites. And even more people that just get their burned games from friends or people that sell them.

And don't forget about all the dead 360s out there. I have 1 that is just dead and I'm sure tons of other people do to. Look at all the busted 360s on ebay.

When you think about all of this and the fact that every PS3 game out there was legitimately purchased, it makes the situation a lot worse.

For a game to be a MEGA seller it will have to sell at least 3 million....
