Forums - Sales Discussion - Natal will put 360 on top for the rest of the generation

I wish you well. There's always a chance you'll be right. You have a good chance of being right in the USA. Less so in the rest of the world.

There could be the rather odd effect of PS3 poisoning the well for 360. If the wand seriously flops then this might just put people off the Natal and steer the motion-curious back to an established and already successful model: Wii.

Compelling software is the only way for Natal to push 360 over the top. I'm more likely to become a true believer when you can turn your bullet point 2 from a vague promise to some concrete examples of announced software with published release dates.

But I've learned my lesson not to mock ambitious predictions... 3 million MW2 sales on PS3 week one, what an insane claim that was.

The biggest "problem" I see is Sony getting away with some motion control projects that are also being developed for Natal. Let's say Burnout is being prepared for Natal. I can't imagine it being TOO hard to allowing it to become 'Motion Wanded' as an "in-between step". If that's the case, some audience will be lost to that.

On the other hand, MS is playing it smart by going for a show-off in February, before the wand is being released, probably to get people to think of Natal instead of on the Motion Wand. No matter if it's possible, it should beecome an interesting 2010

Natal will flop and so will Sony wands.

That's my brave prediction.

We shall see.

I think Natal is a big deal, it reminds of me of the PS2 in some ways. Thing is, maybe it's dwelling on a paradigm which wasn't created by third parties or the gaming industry so that support may or may not matter, or maybe it's something entirely new.

I don't think I can make a prediction yet, I need to know quite a bit more about it. Including genuine consumer hands on experience with some games.

EDIT: On second thought, that's my non-brave prediction. My brave prediction is the same as Zlejedi's.

ROFFLE no it won't!

Unlikely imo, the peripheral is colliding with what the console itself is built to be and has always tried to be. Giving the 360 a split personality won't do much good I think.

^Why do you think the vitality sensor is ridiculous, after motion plus and the balance board?

It's interesting that you mention that, because indeed the PS3 Wand has more in common with the Wii remote. Outside of maybe PC and 360, the multiplatform nature of these motion controllers will not be very large across the board. Also you have to consider that initially the PS3 Wand and Natal will have a limited install base compared to the regular consoles.

I think we'll probably see it be focused on as a peripheral, with optional use for most games. Once again the true focus and really important driver of these ideas will probably come from first party development initially.

No, unless Natal will cost less than 50 pounds, then there is a slim chance.

Also, i think/expect AGENT will move more PS3 HW, than Natal x360 HW during it`s first week of release.
