A decent amount of kiddies balances out with those who grew up with the NES/SNEs, as well as those who just never got into gaming before. Average Wii owner is 29, I think PS3 was about 22 or so, but can't remember, nor do I have the source

Oh, by older I didn't mean by age. I guess I was mainly referring to last-gen gamers, whom the HD consoles are entirely built upon. The Wii does not depend on these people exclusively, though it has its share.

I can quite easily say 2010 will be down on 2009 for PS3. Remember 2009 was the year of the price cut and slim. There was massive hype for this double whammy which was to all intent and purpose was a practical whole new relaunch. This led to huge weekly sales. If you think the PS3 can keep these sales up for more than 3-4 weeks into 2009 you are deluding yourself. It certainly won't stabilise at anything like the weekly numbers at any time after slim launch.

@OP - Do you mean for a particular region or WW? For a region, sure Japan may stay with PS3 slightly ahead of Wii, WW, it won't happen as the US has relatively cold-shouldered the PS3 this gen, and would take another decent price drop to really give it some gas.

And next year is the yar PS3 finally gets GT5, GOW3, FF13, maybe AGENT and maybe FFVersus, plus selling at 300$ for an entire year, + whatever effect Eyepet is going to have + Whatever effect the Sphere is going to have.

It won't keep selling 250K+ every week of 2010, but if it sells 150K+ plus sell about the same in the holiday season, it will see a YoY increase in sales.



Bet with Dr.A.Peter.Nintendo that Super Mario Galaxy 2 won't sell 15 million copies up to six months after it's release, the winner will get Avatar control for a week and signature control for a month.

I thnk you will have to get used to seeing it sell 150k-ish very often next year. You are talking about games giving the PS3 a boost next year as if it hasn't had any this year and if i remember rightly, FF13 is releasing in it's biggest market this year. Right?

I think it might be possible on both fronts and this is why. First we have already seen that the PS3 is capable of outselling the WII on any given week since the launch of the Slim. Next factor in the increase in sales as blu-ray continues to grow in the movie market. Next consider the life cycles if as Sony says the PS3 is truly a 10 year machine which based on the price considerations it needs to be then I think PS3 has a legit chance as both passing WII in weekly sales and even catching up LTD.

But honestly talk about the ps3 beating the wii after the ps3 beats the 360 which is looking to happen........never.
