Damn, I just saw the news article. Cant believe something beat halo 3's opening this gen and its not even close.

Reggie is going to have a hard time with the bet he made about NSMBWii beating MW2 on the 360 by the end on January.
Who started the FPS games on Consoles ?
It was Nintendo they made with Golden Eye one of the best FPS ever. And before that they made Turok if I remember correctly it was even a Launch Titel or atleast a Titel which was released pretty soon after the N64 Launch. And before that it was Wolfenstein on Snes and Doom. So it was Nintendo which brought the FPS to Consoles. And if the Wii would be as powerful as the 360 I guess that many PS3 or Xbox360 owners would have switched to Wii. And Wii would be a big FPS console.
MW2...Banging out the numbers...M$ is looking pretty smart on their hitching the wagon to this game for the holiday season...5.5 million...WHOLLY SHIT!

Hey, I'm pretty sure Reggie said it will beat the 360 and PS3 version combine. But now it sure doesn't look like its going to be even close.
Those are some ridiculous opening numbers. It'll probably hold the record for a long, long time - until sometime next gen at the earliest.
I don't know about its legs, though. People are speculating on its final sales numbers on its opening week alone, but I think a lot of its load has been blown right off the bat. Like most sequels, I predict it will undersell the original during its first holiday period (December), and stay under from 2010 on out. The X360 sku will not pass Halo 3, especially if a sequel to MW is released. The PS3 version may outdo GTA IV, but not by much. In the end, I still only expect ~17mil between the HD consoles.
Well, that's as pessimistic as it gets, but I'll bank on it... let's see how this goes.

He only said on 360. LTD I can see it, but I'm not sure if it will be able to do it by the end of the holidays.
