Well I am finally thinking about getting a PS3 because of the price drop and a new game.
No its not Uncharted 2 or any of the other games one would think.
For me its mainly because of Way of the Samurai 3 and Demon Souls.

I have always loved the WotS series and am excited with what I hear about WotS 3.
Demon Souls looks like the hardcore online RPG that I have been waiting for as well.

My question for everyone is what other games should I get.
I like all genres of games but tend to enjoy the 'hidden gems' more than the big blockbusters.
Don't need any FPS games since I prefer PC for those types, looking for brawlers, action RPG, online co-op type games.
Anyone have other suggestions like WotS or Demon Souls?
How about PSN games? 
Plan to get WotS3, Demon Souls, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 1 &2, Brutal Legend, and Bayonetta. 

Please refrain from listing every over hyped game, Thanks  :)

Also do I need any HD cables or does the Slim come with them?

Well you are already getting Demon's Souls.

I would add:

LittleBigPlanet - Tons of replay value, fun with friends.
Heavenly Sword - Yes it's short, but worth a rental.

In terms of what you are looking for, you should give those 2 a shot.

Well since those games you've listed (Ninja Gaiden, Brutal Legend, Bayonetta) are very similar to Devil May Cry 4 (which is in my humble opinion better) I'd suggest you that, it's also discounted unlike these new titles. Also look out for Dante's Inferno and the God of (this genre) War III.

My favourite genre on PS3 is third preson action, so I can suggest you Metal Gear Solid 4 (my favourite game of all times), Uncharted 1 + 2 (at first U1 was like above average experience, but in the end it graped me by the balls and I've enjoyed that ride to the fullest, now I'm waiting for U2), GTA4, Assasin's Creed (it was a little monotone, but the artistic design is very dear to me) and iNfamous (great fun, you just have to fool around and play with superpowers).

My goodness, how did I forget to mention Valkyria Chronicles?

Check out Disgaea 3 too while your at it.

MGS4 is a must for any PS3 owner. That game will never age.

Demon's Souls? I like your style :)

I personally recommend Resistance 2. Epic story and I'm not that big of a shooter fan.
