Well, Nintendo fans, it has been a long time coming, but Nintendo is finally back on top.

You know, I am really glad Nintendo swept up this generation so quickly. Since the Wii was released, it has never been outsold (except for a few minor flukes i.e. Halo 3/MGS4 opening weeks, PS3 price drop). Now that's saying something, after that whole GameCube generation incident thing..

But those days are over people, now that Nintendo is back on top, they can work on building up their brand name, and lead these Wii users into the next next generation on the right foot: with the purchase of a new Nintendo console.

Now that that is out of the way, I am going to tell you WHY they deserve it.

It is quite simple. Nintendo pretty much started gaming. Without Nintendo, who knows where we will be? Would any other company have stepped up to save video games from the devestating crash of 1983? Probably not.

What about PlayStation? Where would PlayStation be if it weren't for Nintendo? I think we all know the answer to this one.

Microsoft? Well.. Microsoft wouldn't even be here if they weren't afraid of the influence PlayStation was having over the living room. They didn't want it to take attention away from PCs.

Now what is it that Microsoft and Sony have done? Well.. I can tell you one thing. Its their fault that our beloved SEGA isn't making consoles anymore.

What do you guys think? Are these valid points for why Nintendo deserves it this time around?

• Nintendo has branched out to new gamers, young and old.
• Nintendo sells pure game machines without forcing expensive nongaming stuff on you.
• Nintendo keeps development costs at a reasonable level
• Nintendo's first party games pushed hardware sales to an unprecedented rate
• Nintendo has the greatest customer service
• Nintendo makes the most durable consoles
• Nintendo's games always have high quality and strong presentation, no matter what audience that they are geared towards.
• Nintendo has created a platform where innovation was required for third parties (With both DS and Wii)
• Nintendo has managed to prove all the analysts, core gamers, critics, and competitors who said the Wii would fail, completely wrong.
• Nintendo is the only true gaming company left making consoles.
• Super Mario, Metroid, Kirby, Animal Crossing, The Legend of Zelda, Starfox, RPG Mario games, Punch Out, Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, Pikmin.

I do want to get something out of the way. Microsoft made us realize the importance of online gaming, so for that reason, I think they deserve second.

ot: nintendo deserves it this generation, in my opinion, for branching out to youngsters and old people. MS and Sony- both great consoles, focus only on the 15-24 year old age group.

Nintendo's fallout with Sony over the CD based super nintendo is what caused sony to go solo. After that, the world received the Zelda CDi games and the PS1. The rest- is history :p

They deserve to win because a great sin was committed last generation, which had to be rectified. And that was the fact that the platform which brought unto the world the Best Game of All Time came in third

So it had to happen that not only would Sony and Microsoft lose, but they would lose to a platform with a silly name and a feature-list that the original Xbox could laugh at

They deserve to be on top, because they reached out to a completely new demographic while staying true to what they really do, which is gaming. People wonder why the Wii lacks HD, or DVD playback. Now what exactly does that have to do with Gaming?

No, that would be Sega's own incompetence.

Actually they just gave developers a big excuse to make half-assed single-player campaigns to compensate with a "inovative" online multi-player, wich is sad because somehow a FPS isn't allowed to have a good story anymore (even though CoD4, Bioshock and Half-Life are here to disagree, wich is very fortunate).

Anyways, Nintendo deserves to be on top because Scribblenauts is exclusive to the DS, a Nintendo system. And because of everything ou guys said too. But mainly Scribblenauts.

I agree with Rol and Montanna.
Nintendo is good at keeping money flowing in rough economic times, and at surviving in general. And i never liked the idea of being forced to buy blue-ray if I wanted Ratchet and Clank. I don't buy dvds anymore, blue ray would be a waste.
Sega failed on its own accord. It is sad, but you can't blame others for their own mistakes.
