Secret of Mana

Yup, I've happened to find this RPG gem for the Super Nintendo used. It's in french though, but I guess that's a positive since I study frensh and I do learn some new words from it.

The gameplay: It's action based, kind of like 2D Zelda only with more weapons to chose from and magic spells and power attacks and so on. Oh, and you can play up to three persons simultaneus multiplayer. The gameplay in Secret of Mana absolutely destroys every single RPG I have ever played before. And it's almost 20 years old!

The music: I really can't believe that they pulled that intro theme off on the Super Nintendo, simply beatiful. The rest of the music seems generic at the beginning, but it really grows on you. The boss fights, the winter music, and the shifting season forest music all are extremely good.

The graphics: Not DKC or Final fantasy III, but the colours are vibrant, and the art is really good. The game still looks good today.

The bad: It's not incredibly impressive in the beginning, but the game picks up pace the farther you get into it. Treasure chests can contain traps.

The score: I usually don't like RPG's but this is just so darn good, and had aged so well.

Just finished Dead Space on 360.

+ Beautiful moody environments with cool art style, nice modeling, and a great lighting system
+ Great animation throughout
+ Music and sound effects help set tone perfectly
+ Well implemented and responsive RE4-5 type controls
+ Original environments, zero gravity sections, stasis, and kinesis abilities help set it apart from being just a clone
+ Engaging combat with nice variety of aggressive scary enemies and fun upgradeable weapons to kill them with.

- Story and in game logs are pretty stupid/disappointing and take away from immersion a little
- Objectives seem tedious/unvaried with the fix this fix that type model way overused
- Feels a little repetitious at times with small pacing/level design issues

Overall, great game, perfect mix between RE4-5 and the Aliens game on SNES. 9/10

Call of Duty: World at War - i can't stop playin this game..didn't think it would be on the same level as CoD 4 but its almost there if not all the way there. 9/10

Shadow Complex - Have to make more games like this. I love old school side scrollers. 8/10

NHL 10 - I loved NHL 09 to death, it was my first NHL game i owned since the Genesis days in '93...i played 09 so much i was last ranked at around 550th. I am so disappointed in '10. It's so much slower than '09 and the passing is awful, when you deke your player moves so slow throughout the move that it doesn't even pay to deke. The goalies are insanely good, which i wouldn't mind if the gameplay stayed the same as '09. The fighting is retarted, it takes forever after every whistle and just makes each game drag. Fighting happens way to often and just ruins the whole game, and the fighting isn't even good. Very upset with this, very upset. 6/10

MLB: The Show 09 - Not as good as MVP baseball from last generation, but still very solid. Too bad online is very laggy other wise I'd be playing all the time. I still love this game though. 9/10

Scribblenauts - My friend got me this for my birthday and when i first opened it a few days later and played it I couldn't put it down, but I've only played it once after that. It's very fun initially, but that fun wore off very quickly for me. It got pretty repetitive pretty quick, but I will still give it some more time. 6/10

Uncharted 2 beta/demo (whatever it is now)

I love it, I couldn't dream of it being this good. The graphic's are great, modes are awesome, and the maps are brilliantly designed. 9.8/10
