Forums - Sony Discussion - GOW (and maybe ICO) collection.....why rebuy?

Im not talking about trophy support/GOW3 demo. What I am wondering is what is the benifit of these PS on BRD over the PS2 originals. Is the GOW collection going to just be the game upscaled to 720 or are the textures going to be redrawn in HD 720. God of war 1 ran in 480 and 2 ran in 720(not too sure about this) so Im trying to fugure out whats the benifit over the PS2 versions upscaled to 1080 on a PS3. Im confused if this is a cheap cash in or an actual remake.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

It's not an actual remake..they're going to 'freshen it up' more than likely adjust a few small things, and for the most part it'll be the same games with trophies. And benefits ARE trophies, as well as both games on 1 disc and both on a current console, since they're still such good games and still worth playing, especially for trophies.

I would rebuy a Team Ico collection because both of those games are amazing and didn't get nearly enough sales.

There is very little reason to rebuy, I see these more as a way for people that didn't get a chance to play them on the PS2 to catch up before the next installment of the series.

...

GoW2 didn't run in 720. It ran in 480p if you had a progressive scan TV and activated the "Progressive Scan" option.

I doubt the textures would be re-drawn, but I will show you this screenshot of Shadow of the Colossus:

The game could have looked like THAT in HD. The resolution was holding it back.

It's not a remake, and 2 did not run in 720, it was in 480 as well.... I don't know what exactly they're doing to the textures, but it's supposed to be native 720, so probably more than just upscaling them, and they are also upping the framerate, and you get 2 games for less than the price of a new one.

None of that really matters though, it's GoW, so get it.

They might redo Kratos' character model, maybe even all of the character models. But I doubt they'll go through the entire game and update every texture and every object.

Does it look any better than on a BC ps2. I just bought a new SOTC for $20 and a used ICO for $35 which is kind of why I made this thread.

There isn't a reason. Just fan-service for those who never played it.

Sort of like MPT. Well, sort of.

Ouch. I know Ico is hard to find and all but you got ripped off.

The games run in 720p, have AA and Trophy Support.
And the games, which are contained in the collection are God of War 1&2.
I think that are more than enough reasons to (re-)buy the game.
