Microsoft buying EA makes no sense: Pachter

Responding to an email by Industry Gamers Patcher said in response to Microsoft buying EA:

“It makes no sense at all. One platform exclusives would likely nullify NFL exclusivity, could kill off all sports and other licenses.  EA’s value on one platform is probably half its value to a multi-platform buyer ”

“Our contacts just don’t see Microsoft buying Electronic Arts, no synergies whatsoever, and also not Microsoft’s corporate primary focus right now.”

So folks what do you think?

I'd say YES

EA does not want to loose their licenses which they will if this happens

Can we just let this rumor die? I mean if it happens it happens if it doesn't it doesn't.

Yes, he's absolutely correct, and MS have denied it. MS may make mistakes, but it's a whole new level of stupid for them to buy EA, and MS didn't get where it is today by being a total bonehead.

This rumor is refuted already. No need to make another Patcher thread.

I don't know. I mean, sure, EA would lose its key strengths if Microsoft were to buy it, but Microsoft inadvertently crippled Rare on purchase (or they knew full well that Rare was in transition when they picked it up, which is why Nintendo rattled it off)

Pachter must have been on VGC yesterday. All of his reasons were posted many times.

Thanks for the input, Jeff.

You know, after the Big 3 denied price cut rumors - and lo and behold, the rumors were true - and all 3 consoles had price cuts, I will believe the denial when it doesn't happen.

With financial experts weighing in and stock prices going up and down, it's more than just smoke.

Regardless, let everyone go to their happy place and believe what you want. I believe MS will buy EA because it's the way they operate.

What, son, what? New York, New York!!!

Uh-oh. If Pachter says it makes no sense, the takeover rumors are probably true after all. :-/

Tomorrow Pachter will say that the Wii is the market leader...it's predictions are becoming so obvious! It's not the glorious "Wii HD"'s Pachter...

CURRENTLY PLAYING: Xenoblade (Wii), Super mario 3D land (3DS), Guild Wars (PC)

whoever started that rumors has no common sense.
we don't need Mr. Pachter to help us figure it out.
