Sony is a funny company, they always do the opposite of what its fans want, they are a masters of it.
I love Uncharted as much as the next person, but I hope they don't think it can compete with the big boys sales wise.

I don't think Nintendo does any better in that regard, and frankly Microsoft may just be lucky that the two studios that provide them with the best selling games also happen to be the best at keeping a schedule(Bungie/Epic). Sony has their two teams(Naughty Dog/Insomniac), however they just aren't creating as appealing games to that fanbase.

One thing, I really don't know what's the appealing games to the PS3 fanbase, we've had a few games that would have easily sold over 5 million copies in other consoles. Besides, GT, Sony 1st party software do not sell to the level they should. It could also be a marketing issue, so its debateable.

I don't think Sony has been able to carve out an identity since losing their stranglehold on 3rd party games. The ones they've managed to hold onto, MGS4, Yakuza, etc., did rather well. None of their 1st party titles have been able to recapture that sales magic for whatever reason. I think Microsoft's strategy of basically reinventing their brand as a copycat PS2 while still holding on to their own identity has done some serious damage to Sony.

You guys forgot GTA: Episodes from Liberty City for the 360. I don't know why it's shocking for some of you to think people might actually favor the 360's lineup for the end of this year. I do, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so.

themanwithnoname's law: As an America's sales or NPD thread grows longer, the probabilty of the comment "America = World" [sarcasticly] being made approaches 1.

I kinda have to put the blame on Call of duty ,COd-Cock-blocking to be exact. If it wasn't for that series, I could just see killzone 2 and God of war 3 and many other titles getting release closer to the holidays but sony is scared of course of getting overshadowed and i don't blame em' Either,But what are you gonna do...

Ok. Can this thread please be locked now? This whole thread is infested with retarded troll-bots.

OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!! Are you seriously going to start a thread about Sony losing this holiday season because GT5 is set for March next year in Japan. Please STHU!!!

"

We are here to talk about PS3 holiday lineup, and like many others have said, Sony messed up.

"If you've held out on buying a PS3 for only GT5, then you're a moron. If you think Sony has "lost" this holiday season. Then there isn't a word to describe how low your intelligence is. As far as I know all we have is Japanese release date for it. It may release a little bit earlier in Europe and NA. Final Fantasy 13 won't release in March. I think that will be early summer."

Almost everyone who is saying Sony messed up holiday is PS3 user (like me).

"The PS3 is still getting Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank Future: ACiT, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, EyePet, Demon's Souls (I think), Final Fantasy XIII (in Japan), God of War Collection (comes with GoW III Demo code), LittleBigPlanet GotY Edition (comes with ModNation Racers beta code) and still gets the top multiplatform games the 360 gets like Assassin's Creed II and Modern Warfare 2."

Not one of those sells even 1/8 of what GT5 would have done in holiday. Or what Halo ODST and Forza 3 will sell.

Take my love, take my land..

I'll be honest, I think GT5's delay has more to do with FFXIII then anything else.

Remember, there was going to be an announcement about the game at GamesCom, but it was pulled last minute. We then discovered at rouhgly the same time that SE planned to announce the release date for FXIII on September 8th.

Remember, up until his point, we had countless retailers leaking a December release date for GT5, including bundles, the works. Then SE announces a December date for FFXIII, and GT suddenly gets pushed back, despite countless retailers, insiders, etc. leaking a 2009 release date. Even the brochures at GamesCom said 2009.

You don't want the ps3's two biggest games ever in Japan dropping within a week of each other, and a delay for Japan obviously means a delay worldwide.

That being said, the ps3 isn't looking bad this holiday by any means. Sure, they lack a true system seller for the holiday period, but the Slim and price cut will do more than any game ever could have, and they still have FFXIII in Japan, which will move a couple of hundred thousand consoles alone.

As far as games that gamers will enjoy, the ps3 still has a variety of good exclusives this Fall, ranging from Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls, and Ratchet & Clank, to Afrika, EyePet, and SingStar: Michael Jackson.

In my posts I was pointing a long list of titles hitting the PS3 this holiday season.

I'm so fucking tired of reading what people say about how they dropped the ball. How? Explain to me how Sony dropped the ball.
This whole thing pisses me off. Since when did sales of a game prove how great the experience was with a game? I don't get it. Sony apparently hasn't done enough. Price cut, Slim introduction, PS Wand, God of War Collection, Uncharted 2, PSN equal to XBL (you can say what you want but for a free service it's equal), a ton of other games for the holidays. Plus the line-up of software for the first half of 2010.

Well said but im concerned about what will happen in q1 when the rest of great titles releases. I don´t think Sony will release God of war 3 , Gt5, Heavy rain, Mag, White knight chronicles at the same time.

You're wrong (IMO), since you're assuming that they haven't spoken to each other and worked it out before hand. What Sony does with GT5 and SE does with FFXIII won't have been a surprise to either one of them. Theres a really good reason for the GT5 rumours, wishful thinking. You could probably add the possibility that Sony has been deliberately feeding rumours about a release to get GT5 holdouts to buy a PS3 now rather than wait until next year, if they supposidly number in the hundeds of thousands they have every incentive.

Tease.
