Forums - Sony Discussion - GRAN TURISMO PSP Eurogamer Review -- 7/10 (FALL from grace for GT)?!

4 cars is crap. I would settle for GT2 ported to the PSP. Does anybody have their PSP hacked and playing GT1 or 2?

how the hell is GT4 crap but GT2 good?

they are the same game except GT4 has better grfx, interfaces, licenses, more tracks, cars

but the car handling is a bit more annoying

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I played GT2 on PSP it wasnt bad.

Whats with only 4 cars too? that cant be very challenging... maybe I'm wrong there, never played a racer on a handheld before.

I'm not surprised at car number.  If this is 60fps on PSP and looks as nice as the reviews indicate I doubt the PSP HW could handle much more on-screen than that number.

I wasn't too interested in this, as I find driving games on handhelds to be redundant (for me), but it's a shame that, reading the reviews, the basic engine, handling, etc. has all transfered well but they've made a baffling choice as to how to present the game on PSP - i.e. without a career mode or formal structure.

I'm currently figuring they though for some reason that being protable all people would want is to pick a car, a track and drive for the sake of it for a short period (say travelling to work or whatever).  Clearly most reviewers feel that's an error - I guess once actual player opinions start to show up we'll know if the lack of career mode is accepted due to portable playing habits or whether it does turn out to be a big failing.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

I lul at stereotypical thinking which blossoms here. If it's common thing of Sony fans, then it's no wonder the company is unable to establish new IPs and is forced to rely on milking the same old stuff, it's just their userbase. Or you hurt too much for review scores? No career is complaint? Well, from what I heard the game has LOTS of cars and tracks. If so, why would I need a career? To open all of 700 cars? On go? Seriously? This is exactly why PSP lacks appeal as a game platform, because its game library is broken, the games are not played on go. You may call it `hardcore` or whatever.

And while I'm not crazy about GT at all, I think this is first right thing they did on PSP for a long time. You just pick up whatever car and track you are in the mood for at the moment, do some drivinf for a few spare minutes, and then log off. This is exactly the definition of handheld gaming, what's up with that? The real problem with GT is that it's simply no fun, but it's so regardless if it has "career" or if it doesn't.

Unable to establish new IPs? LBP, Uncharted, Motorstorm, and Resistance say hi, just to reel off the first stuff that comes into my head.

This is really derailment, but if this is what you want... Wii Sports/Play/Fit cry `hi` alltogether to you. And then Halo/GeoW/AC kindly smile and add `bonjour`, too. Uncharted might get a chance with the sequel, but LBP and Motorstorm... well.. are niche at best. Resistance is just big LOL, last thing I heard is that they just alienated fanbase of the first game with the sequel.

You still need to earn money to buy cars. That is unchanged. And career mode in GT is just a percentage point anyway. Am I missing something here??
