Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Official: SSB:B delayed in US until 10 Feb. 2008

This seems like a good strategy for Nintendo in 2008 against the PS3, but it pains me to see that I have to wait an additional two months for one of the Wii's biggest games. But at least there still is Galaxy...

Currently Playing: Mario Kart 7, Mario Kart 8, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, Super Smash Bros for Wii U

Predictions:

Super Mario Galaxy will pass Super Mario 64 in total sales CORRECT!

Well, one thing's for sure: the Wii's sales won't be as high this holiday. But at least Galaxy will release in November...

Thats assuming that the Wii isnt completely supply constrained over the holidays, if it is supply constrained then SSBB wouldnt make an ounce of difference.

Still, this news sucks.

Another positive for the Wii is that this will allow more 3rd party titles to be sold in time for the holidays. The Wii needs these games to sell good to shake the image of only Nintendo games selling on the system. This will in turn increase more support.

Oh well. I can wait for this kind of awesome game. At least SSBB won't distracte me from studying for exams now. It also gives me more time to play Super Mario Galaxy.

Umm Reggie's a hipocrit.. remember this interview at e3? http://www.gametrailers.com/player/22608.html..

Oh what did I hear?.. was that "we gonna meet these dates" he said at 1:20?... Screw you Reggie for making us have hope for this release date.

Remember - ultimately Reggie is nothing but a marketing gimp (no offense Reggie ;).

Nintendo is run by engineers/designers from Japan. Reggie has basically no say or control over them at all - he is just a glorified b*tch used to market/manage US sales.

Don't ever think that anything Reggie says is really binding - if Miyamoto or Iwato says something like this, then renegs - then be annoyed.

Plus - game development is always an unpredictable process, almost always taking longer than expected. I doubt anyone would rather see Brawl released early/on-time - with bugs/issues... rather than being delayed and perfect.

...

And here is a little tidbit for you all.. what is Ninty was to release a demo of Brawl (for free) in time for Xmas? Say 2 characters and one stage? (no idea if practical or going to happen, just an idea)

I'd be overjoyed with excitement. They should do what you said with Mario and Sonic at an Olympic stage about the time of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games comes out. That'd just be wonderful for everyone :P.

Honestly I find this very upsetting. All the news seems to be upsetting today. I wanted a Wii for three specific games this year. I could wipe my rear end with the rest of the lineup. Those other games do not impress me. I wanted another Zelda, Mario, and Brawl. Basically I got a console for two games now. I think anyone who has bought the console, and is now upset has a right to be upset. The reality is high quality must have games have been in short supply. I did not want this machine to play second string garbage. I want the gold, and I shouldn't have to wait over a year to get the three solid games.

Yes I am very upset so much so I could curse. The more I think about it the angrier I become. Nintendo couldn't even manage to give me three decent games in the first year. No I am not a fan of Metroid either. I couldn't even bring myself to finish the first one.

Reggie is a tool.

I don't care much for this game as long as FE doesn't get delayed.

Delays aren't really good. If you look at Twilight Princess, you'll see what I mean. A poorly paced adventure with obscure puzzles and little to no side quests. I'm guessing this game will only get about 25 characters in the end with a good, but short campaign. After all that Nintendo has had to show, I don't have much hope left for them in this game.

Also, if you look at Metroid, you can see that Retro did a pretty horrible job with it, for a game that was delayed for 9 months Sure, the environments were huge and beautifully detailed, but the game was linear, had little to no exploration, and the most repetitive boss fights, with the only strong points being graphics and enemy design. No character development, a silent protagonist that runs to her ship to make herself look worried over a bunch of hunters who have done nothing but ridicule her, and a short, dull campaign. Also, don't forget the nearly invisible crosshair.

Nothing good this holiday season other than FE and RE:UC. The rest are just cheap cash ins. I excluded Galaxy because it's probably going to be a small, disorienting platformer with pretty graphics.

I've never seen you post something that critical about Nintendo before, anything wrong?

Shrug, not everyone will look forward to it. This is true.

At the same time, I'd vote Cadence went insane. Or just really really hates games the vast majority of gamers like.
