Forums - Sales Discussion - Famitsu sales (8/10 - 8/16)

Wii dropped 50% when MH3 dropped 400k. MH3 only dropped by 80k this week, so I was expecting a much smaller Wii hw drop, offset by Obon, and overall coming out a bit ahead. That may be the case with Media Create but Famitsu has the exact same 46,000 this week and last week.

I disagree about next week too - it will be interesting to see if more PS3 titles return to the top thirty on the price cut since PS3 hw sales should be double or so over this week. Should be something like 60k DS, 30k Wii, 25k PSP, 16k PS3, 5k 360, 4.5k PS2

yea the price cut could make things interesting. I've been reading on gaf though that the price in the shops in Japan hasn't changed yet.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

@ThesOURCE

The 80gb PS3 did not drop in price in japan

Hmm, those sales are kinda interesting.

Some things are holding very well while others are dropping pretty hard.

I'm so happy for DQ IX which matched to be the 1st again :)

DQIX is selling amazingly. It deserves it too. Also the Monster Hunter 3 "bomb" posts seem to have toned down, and have at least some base to them. Glad to see that. Things are going to get exciting the next month or so.

Media Create has MH3 20k higher than Famitsu this week, over a 20% difference. Makes me think they'll have Wii higher than Famitsu, as I find it strange that Wii was the only console not to jump on Obon. The others all jumped as expected. I wasn't expecting more than a 15% rise for Wii since MH3 is falling, but we'll have to see what MC has.

Why are the life time sales of Monster Hunter 3 so different in Famitsu and Media Create? Famitsu has it at 793,000 while Media Create has the game at 750,000. It's a difference of 43k. Is this discrepancy normal?

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

It's pretty standard to see a ~10% difference.

Magna Carta did well on its second week. I hope it will have good legs.
