Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Must... have... Wii

Well, i don't NEED suggestions, but since money ≠ infinity, i can't get everything i want all at once.

Leo-J: I live in South Carolina

I live in Georgia.

To get a Wii, check stores often most especially on Sundays (or ask the clerks the usual day shipments tend to come in). Get there before daybreak and look in giant stores like Wal-Mart for best results. Don't go to eBay and don't buy put together money-leeching bundles (unless you like spending unnecessary money that is).

You'll have to do this now because all of what I told you is in the process of coming apart as the holiday frenzy begins. The current ebbing is actually a good thing for people wanting to get this system before getting caught in all that madness coming up for November and December.

Oh and for my current Wii games list:

•Wii Sports (of course)

•The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (long playing. took me 4 months to beat it. I have full time job of course)

•Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 (VERY underrated)

•Wario Ware: Smooth Moves (this one will make you laugh!)

•Wii Play (it's not just a controller with a game tacked on. the game is very fun)

•Excite Truck (underdeveloped on multiplayer but great fun)

•Trauma Center: Second Opinion (you MUST get this! might make you wanna become a doctor!)

•The Godfather: Blackhand Edition (surprisingly well done game. would be good even without Wiimote)

•Mario Strikers Charged (fun of course. still need to meet up with some players online. time is so cramped with me)

•Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (can't put this game down sometimes!)

A small sampling of my wanna gets:

•Super Paper Mario (still gotta beat GC Paper Mario!)

•Elebits

•Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree

•Mario Party 8 (I already got the other 7 so why not?)

•Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition (ain't beat the GC one yet anyway)

•Sonic and the Secret Rings

•Smackdown vs. Raw 2008 (just to see how a wrestling game plays on Wii)

•Battalion Wars 2 (BWii)

•LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga (never played the LEGO StarWars games)

•Madden NFL 07 (not a football fan. just want to see how the controls work)

Frankly there's too much to list. I haven't even mentioned the ones I wanna test drive. And of course the big guns like Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, & Wii Fit.

Don't get me started on Virtual Console (Comic Zone, Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV). And then don't forget to go on WiiCade.com from your Internet Channel and find lots of cool flash games specially formatted for Wii controls. I like Squares 2 among many titles like Tactical Assault, Grammar Ninja, Dice Wars, Hangaroo and that one with Bush. No games on Wii my ass. The thing is a freaking game MACHINE!

Long time listener, first time caller. After having jumped ship ship last generation (formerly a proud PS2 and GC owner), I've decided it's time to dive back in. The buzz from on high (and vgc) makes me think i better not wait any longer. I figure all you smart kids can help me out here. Couple of Q's:

1) Is there an easy way to track down a wii? (aside from talking to clueless sales associates and driving all over town, because even now, after 11 months, i can still count the number of times i've seen a wii "in the wild" on one hand)

2) Any suggestions on must-have games?

1) If you don't want to drive around town, the only solution is to keep all their numbers available and call them on Sunday mornings to check if they have them in stock. As soon as they do, hurry and go get it. The other way of doing it is by looking through craigslist to find a used one. If you are like me, you can keep checking until you find one that is not overpriced (often because they go fast).

2) I would love to tell you a long list of games I want to buy that are out already. I will keep it real and only tell you about the ones I played though. I played Godfather and RE4. I recommend both if you like the type of game and didn't play it before.

I didn't play many Wii games because I don't have too much time and I am playing all the GC games I missed first (Wind Waker, Metroid Prime 1, Ikaruga and now Pikmin).

Ok let me tell you that this holiday there are a plethora of good games coming out for Wii.....

Super Mario Galaxy
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Nights journey of dreams
Zack and wiki
Medal of honor 2 heroes
Rayman Raving Rabbits 2
MX vs ATV unlimited

and several more. As for finding a Wii, well...... Good luck with that. Just be agressive.

Send me a message if you want to be Wii friends.

Wii Play has a version of pong which is a fun mini-game. Tanks is also fun, as well as the cow races. Just get Wii Play for the controller, and you get the game for like $10 overall in the bundle. It's simple games you can play with anyone - even your grandmother.

It's not -that- bad. 80% of it is bad, but the 20% is fun, which is worth the measily $10.

Numbers: Checker Players > Halo Players

Checkers Age and replayability > Halo Age and replayability

Therefore, Checkers > Halo

So, Checkers is a better game than Halo.

THeres a lot of good games out there, but my question is do you have a lot of friends that would play. If that is the case your priorities would be different than that of a guy with few friends that would play.

IMO:
Single Player:
RE4
Metal SLug Anthology (you may be better off getting this for PS2)
Trauma Center
Mario Strikers Charged.
Super Paper Mario(if you like the Paper Mario RPG series you will love this, if not give it a rent)

Multi:
Wario Ware (good for single player, a blast for multi)
Mario Party 8(if you want a GC version All of those were good and the boards are better than 8)
Strikers Charged (Its great alone or with others)
Wii Play.

I dont have a lot of games but every one in my collection is a good buy. Leo J lives in everyones fantasy land a city with a large populous and Wiis always in stock. Out here in Albany NY, I have seen 3 cases where Wiis were in stock but none in the last 2 months.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Highly recommend:

- Zelda
- Metroid
- RE4
- Super Paper Mario

If you want social/multiplayer games:
- WiiPlay (good for remote)
- Rayman (although wait for #2?)
- Mario Strikers

Also spend some money on VC - a heap of excellent VC games available.

Montanna, why must both of you troll a thread that has nothing to do with sony?

I can't believe the things people find to call other people trolls.  It's 100% logical that someone who doesn't know what games he wants should probably think twice before plunking down 250+ bucks.  Give it a rest.

I'd recommend just hitting up www.metacritic.com and looking at all the games listed in average score order (direct link), picking some games that seem interesting, and then reading the top 10 reviews and bottom 10 reviews for those games and seeing if they're still interesting afterwards. Maybe buy something awesome like Zelda or RE4 or MP3, but rent a couple of the games that you're still iffy on.

Personal recommendation: get 4 controllers and Elebits.

And if someone had made a similar comment about the PS3 they would have been called a troll without you to come to their defense. He made this thread so he could make that decision before plunking down 250+ bucks which is less than plunking down 300-500+ or 500-600+ bucks so give it a rest yourself.
