JRPGs and WRPGs have been in decline since the start of this generation, but JRPGs are the ones in most peril.
MMORPGs have been pretty much the only ones that are helping the RPG genre.

Eternal Sonata only got 230k????
Oh my god! But that game's a masterpiece...
the only real disappointment there is ToV.. most of those games had high hopes but not high scores- something every1 factors in when they make a purchase.
Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:
a. a AAA 3D sonic title
b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"
c. redesgined PS controller
d. SEGA back in the console business
e. M$ out of the OS business
Those are some crappy sales. It will be harder and harder for developers to get big budgets for Jrpg's this way.
I just hope that FF XIII could set the bar for future JRPGs on consoles so that people will buy this kinds of games more.

What? I agree with him. I enjoyed IU much more than SO4.
Just to "parrot" what everyone has said before, these are great numbers considering the install base in Japan for Xbox 360. New IP's, and it's still relatively early.

Exactly, these numbers are good if you crutch it with all of those things. SO4 and ToV sold great for a 360 title, but terribly for a RPG in that series.
ToV is boring crap, Lost Odyssey and IU are nice games.
But war... war never changes

WRPGs have been increasing in popularity. Fallout 3 and Oblivion have caused their respective series to go from cult status to mainstream popularity. Even The Witcher, a game that didn't get much pre-release hype managed to sell 1.5 million copies.
