Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Virtua Fighter 5 to debut the same day in Japan as Lost Odyssey - Opinions?

LO - 110k
VF5 - 15k Sent to die... not clever by MS.

Hardware - 40-50k

Around the Network

LO: 100k
VF5: 20k

Hardware numbers: 50k opening week, than a steady 30k through December.

I even opened a thread about japanese hardware sales and analysis. But if your not The Source, nobody is listening to you here...

LO: 90k
VF: 30k
360: 40k

Soriku make your sig WAY shorter, currently its a pain in the butt. By way shorter I mean at least down to a third of the current size.

About Virtua Fighter being a system mover.....

When VF5 debuted in Japan on PS3, it did give it a decent boost in terms of hardware, but not by much.

IMO, I'm not really expecting VF5 neccessarily move hardware by itself - it has Lost Oddyssey to do that. However, I think the addition of Virtua Fighter 5 makes buying a Xbox 360 that week, and the week after (when KUF:COD launches), makes the Xbox 360 more attractive. So VF5 might not move systems by itself neccisarily, but allows other games to move them easier.

Also, I didn't realize my VF5 prediction was so high. I think 75k is the most it could get week 1, but probably will be closer to 65k.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

wow >> great news
I think XBOX360 will pass 650K hardware in hapan at the end of the year

Virtua Fighter 5  15,000

Lost Odyssey     75,000

XBOX 360           10,000 units

@mrstickball

thanx for the response. I thought as much but I dont follow the numbers on genres I dont play so I didnt want to say anthing.  It would be nice to see a more balanced market in Japan but microsoft is fighting an uphill battle there.  I hope LO gives them some headway, there are some real quality games on 360 and I think that gamers really do miss out on them in Japan because of ridiculus bias.

Right now I think Lafiel will be the closest to the actual numbers.
