Forums - Sales Discussion - Wii and 360 have already peaked in yearly sales

Yeah for 360 not the Wii. Wii will reach its peak in 2010. Xbox 360 wll sell 38 million by the of the year.

If there is indeed a Wii price cut later this year to $199 for the holidays, expect sales to be through the roof once again and angry parents fighting one another lol.

I think Nintendo will end up cutting the price this fall, because both Sony and Microsoft will be having either a price cut or introduce new bundles, and I really can't see the justification for selling the Wii at $250, unless they pack in more stuff like maybe Wii motion plus. And combine that with the releases of Wii Sports Resort and New Super Mario Bros. Wii, the casual audience will once again be red hot for Wii, so if you want one, get one now while there's plenty on store shelves.

I think both 360 and PS3 will see a spike in sales this holiday season that might surpass last year's holiday sales, but since year on year sales are down through June, I expect both systems to be either flat or have a very small increase in year on year sales.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

some people don't really think through, what they are going to post =\

People dont forget that Nintendo is only making $6 profits per Wii, dropping the price could harm Nintendo because of it.

LOL if you actually believe that. The tech inside the Wii is ancient.

Haha, it was ancient before the system even came out. There making money hand over fist.

Had to change my sig to get some moderator to quit bitching about it......

I don't think any of the 3 consoles has peaked yet.

I actually agree with this but if you are going to use current sales to conclude that the Wii has peaked, you must also conclude that the PS3 has peaked.

Theres a good chance the PS3 has already peaked... last year. Its down 15% already and there was MGS4 AND GT5P released close to back to back last year around this time. It'll probably be down 20% by the time June is over.

Tease.

The one argument I never get is the "PS3 has more room to cut price". Why is this? Because they are the least close to the $0? Room here is dependent not just on absolutes mate. I'd say giving financial resources the PS3 has the least room to cut the price.

The wii then still has not shot off it's wads too soon, seeing as the 3rd party exclusives are just now rolling of the lines and Nintendo is working hard to get SMG2, Metroid, Zelda, NSMB and Pikmin 3 on the retailshelves.

As for the X360, well.. I wouldn't be surprised if MS' consoles ended up at $100 the soonest and fly away again like it did late 2008.

Eventually the cost of making the PS3 will be comparable to how much the PS2 costs to make today.  The real question is will it still be relevent when it can be sold at a low price.
