Do you hold your remote properly?

I mean you have to face the side of your remote not the front to the screen.

That would explain that backhands are all messed up if you don't do it as the game tells you to do.

Yeah the side of the remote is actually the face of the racket. I think they did it this way to make pressing buttons comfortable.

What??!!  That sounds like it will take some getting used to for me.  I am so used to holding the Wii Remote as if the side with buttons is the front of the racket and the back (with the B button) is the back.  Can't imagine using the sides as the face of the remote.

Ok it took me 5 sessions with GST till it finally *clicked* how the control really works but that moment is rewarding.

So there is definatley a learning curve involved, not quite the 1v1 controls i was hoping for but still some nice control possibilities with wm+ which are closer to real tennis than it was possible in wii sports tennis.

So if u r not put off by a learning curve , then u can buy this game indeed.

Improvements are caused by people who complain

I got WM+ today, and I think the game is fantastic. Knowing the correct grip from people's tips at forums, I could immediately see that it really works. After playing a few minutes I could choose the placement of most shots.

I never ran into calibration problems either. It was great to play online matches (even though I got consistently owned).

It seems that far more people like it than don't, so there you go. I think its really good. Just got to learn where to move my player a little better because making shots is perfectly good. Best tennis game I have played.

Yes.

www.spacemag.org - contribute your stuff... satire, comics, ideas, debate, stupidy stupid etc.

Everybody has their own opinion.

But i think reviewers should inform FIRST in their articles that the game has a terrible learning curve and its hardly intuitive.

BEFORE giving the game grades like 8.0 or 8.5

Regular people will buy it, hate it, trade it, and kill the franchise.

Really, i cant understand this game yet.

And i tried enough time to say "now i dont care anymore"

Call me lame, call me a bad player, whatever. The game sucks.

(and its funny, if you think at the videogame market as a whole, sometimes developers cant seem to do games better, to push the industry forward. Everything in the world gets better, smaller, faster... and yet, wii games still sucking and sucking.

Hope getting Tiger Woods and Wii Sports Resort next month change this!)

Sucks to be you ... you ain't lame or a bad player though, you just completely fail at understanding tennis I guess. But please don't blame the game, it works just as it should do.

Now that even eurogamer changed their review completely and they are praising the game, it's not much left to be said ...

I just bought the game and had a horrible 45 minutes of trying to make it work but it turns I was holding the Wiimote wrong. Can't wait to try it out properly tomorrow with the side of the Wiimote as the front of my racquet.

Seems daft to me that they would make the side of the remote the face of the racket.  Would have thought common sense would dictate that the sides with buttons would be the face of the racket.
