Forums - Gaming Discussion - Halo 3 runs at 640p native XD

I think this guy from the originating forum summed it up pretty well.

"In the end, if it's true which I cant say (where are the framebuffer grabs?) it will be latched onto by sony fans on the internet as in this thread, while the millions of buyers wont actually care... And from there it's gonna picked up at various gaming sites, regardless if we even know it's true. And all this isn't going to dent Halo sales.

It's interesting info but I dont know if I believe it. I've never seen a nasa style investigation of this magnitude launched on certain other games..you know what they are i dont even have to say it. But certain people really wanna knock Halo down..."

PS360 ftw!

Currently playing..........

Gears of War 2, GTA IV Lost and Damned, Little Big Planet (Yes I said I had no interest but my girl wanted to try it and we did and now Im hooked )

I am interested to know why this problem exists, whether it has something to do with the DVD limitations or with the graphical capabilities of the 360 itself.

I really hope you dont think the size of the storage medium impacts what resoultion the game runs at.

IMHO, I bet it has to do with the lighting engine. The system in use in Halo 3 is pretty cutting edge rendering, stuff that takes up a lot of system, resources. I would assume that at the time they started development, they thought this lighting system would give the game a noticible graphical edge. They also must have underestimated what could be done with this engine on the hardware.

By the time they realized the limitations of what could be done with the engine (resolution and geometry?), and saw what other developers had pulled off, it was too late to change course.

Graphics don't matter only applies when the grpahics of your god title isn'tthat great. Nice cop out. It's called a double standard.

Graphics don't matter. They are nice to have, but not the end-all-to-be-all.

If graphics really mattered to you that much, you must be a PC gamer then.

I'm a PC gamer, and graphics aren't the end-all-be-all for me.

Why are you stereotyping?

Because Zero Hero is.

But do read the post I put up before this one: For me, gameplay is king.

Edit: Actually, what is wrong with what I said? Just because the PC does in fact deliver the best graphics, doesn't mean that I can't enjoy Bejeweled or even Minesweeper occasionally (or my latest 10-minute fix, Virtual Pool 3D, with very outdated and quite fugly graphics).

It certainly doesn't mean that graphics are the end-all-to-be-all, just like what you said, which is EXACTLY what I said! So, you are agreeing with me, and now that is an issue?

Hmm...

Over at GT one of the guys posted some pics of the game in a thread, i'll leave it up to you to decide if the game looks good.

another halo hater trying to bring it down

im out of here, post something that actually matters

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Proud supporter of all 3 console companys

Proud owner of 360wii and DS/psp

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

whoever says this game is not good looking needs their eyes checked, besides human faces, this game is gorgous

Yeah it looks good.

And yeah, that looks like native 1920x1080, thx Gran :)

Should be more like:

Graphics do matter. They can make a game or break a game.

Resolution - 480P, 720P 1080P? That doesn't matter!!!

As long as the graphics are great and the game play is too, Resolution is not going to make a huge impact!

It's me...  no really, it IS me!!!

That sounds like a good way of differentiating between the two, but just to play the devil's advocate: What about Tetris?
