moondeep said: This confusion over "casual" games and "hardcore" games is ridiculous. The last post mentioned HotD being casual. Pardon me while I puke... Excuse me?! Casual games are ones that are easily accessible, quick to learn, quick to play, and appeal to large audience. You can't tell me that shooting zombies appeals to a large audience. Also, to be good at it you need to invest serious time, and have quick reflexes, thus meaning it's not very accessible. Just because a game is simplistic doesn't make it casual! |
Hm... Really? I'm only talking about the first 4. Not Overkill, or any others... My dad HATES most games... He is "Casual" as you might say... However, at any family arcade venture (GameWorks, Dave & Buster's)... guess where we go first? HotD 1, 2, 3, or 4... To be honest... The idea of shooting zombies with a shotgun appeals to most males over the age of 8. If that is a hardcore age group, then there is something wrong with the world... About accessibility, The only reason it gets less "acessible" is beacause of the number of quaters you have. After a while, you WILL die. That's how they get more money from you. If you really honestly thing that HotD takes skill, hold the gun with your left hand, put your right finger on the trigger area, and move it back and forth quickly, and just shoot at anything that comes your way... It's pretty damn easy...
In comparison to most hardcore games nowadays, everyone knows house of the dead. It's not really hardcore anymore. It was in the 80's and 90's, but it simply isn't anymore... Sorry to dissapoint...
